September & October

Meeting time: Meet at 11:30. Expect a departure time between 11:30 and 12:00
Where: At the end of Telegraph Cove boardwalk.
Getting there: Once in Telegraph Cove follow the boardwalk through the historic old town of Telegraph Cove. At the end of the boardwalk you will find our sandwich board with instuctions on meeting our water taxi. See getting to Telegraph Cove.

Day 1

Meet at the sandwich board where you find instuctions to meet the water taxi. Transfer to our water taxi for the half hour journey to Orca Dreams camp. On our boat ride across Johnstone Strait we’re likely to encounter whales, dolphins, seal lions and other marine mammals, so be sure to have your camera ready.

On arrival at camp we will enjoy our first lunch while going over a camp orientation and discus the next days adventures. After the camp orientation we will show you to your tent and take some time to settle in to your new home. A tea or coffee can be enjoyed on your deck while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the Orca dreams camp.

Our afternoon adventure could include a trip to watch the humpback or killer whales, some afternoon fishing, or explore the nearby Islands or all of the above. Return for dinner.

Day 2 and 3

These days will be dictated by the location of wildlife, weather, and groups desires. We are small groups so we have the opportunity to be flexible and take advantage of what is best for all. This is a good time to explore the countless islands by sea kayak, search out for some nearby whale activity on our whale watching boat, visit ancient first nations village sites and take some time to relax around camp. At least one of the days we like to catch a salmon or rock fish for dinner so we may find ourselves drifting out with the humpback whales in search of dinner.

Return after a day of adventure for dinner. If we happen to catch fish we will enjoy a sea food feast of salmon or rockfish.

During the long days of summer we may decide to do one late afternoon trip out in the boat to watch the sun set and enjoy the most serene time of day. Humpbacks in the sunset, the perfect way to end a day.

Day 4

After breakfast we will enjoy our final morning on the water. Some of us may want to do a final morning of sea kayaking, a trip out to see the whales, or simply stay on shore and relax at camp. We will return to Telegraph Cove by water taxi at around 1pm.

Please note: this itinerary is subject to changes at any time due to weather or other factors beyond our control. Please allow for some flexibility in your travel schedule to accommodate a for this.

Stay for two trips

Many of our guests choose to extend their stay for two trips. If you would like to do this we promise you will not be disappointed, there is so much to do and every day is a new adventure. We are there all summer and we love every single day.

If you choose to stay for two trips, simply use the coupon code second-trip when booking your second trip and you will receive a 10% discount off the second trip.

Your accommodation

Inspired by the african safari experience, our Safari Tents are surely the most stylish way to enjoy a luxury whale watching holiday. Each tent has either a queen sized bed or two single sized beds. There is two meters (6 feet) of vestibule over the front and rear to keep you and your gear dry. Each tent has two locally crafted cedar adirondack chairs over looking the wildlife rich waters of Blackney Pass, a great place to sit while sipping your morning coffee and watching humpback whales surface in the distance.
